A card, a score or a total looks wrong

What to check before reporting a score problem, and exactly what to include so we can trace the round.

Before you start

  • Every round summary shows the breakdown: middle points, Kings captured, the Nertz bonus and leftover penalty. Start there, because a surprising total is usually one of those four numbers.
  • Scores are worked out by our server from the state of the table when the round ends, not by the device in front of you.

Check the breakdown first

  1. 1Open the round summary and read the four parts for the player in question.
  2. 2Face cards (10, Jack, Queen, King) are worth 5, not 1. A pile of face cards adds up fast.
  3. 3Cards left in a Nertz pile are subtracted, so a round can end negative.
  4. 4Kings captured give 10 each, on top of the 5 points for playing the King.
  5. 5The Nertz bonus is 50, once per round, to the player who emptied their pile.

Then report it

  1. 1Open a ticket under "Rules & scoring", then "A score looks wrong".
  2. 2Give us your display name and the mode (solo or online).
  3. 3Say roughly when it happened, and what the score was against what you expected.
  4. 4Add a screenshot of the summary if you have one. It carries the numbers we need.
  5. 5We look at the stored round, tell you what we find, and correct anything that is genuinely wrong.

Things that look like bugs but are not

  • A round ending suddenly: somebody emptied their Nertz pile first, which ends the round for everybody.
  • A round ending with nobody moving: 25 quiet seconds ends the round and scores the table as it stands.
  • A score that seems too low: face cards leave a Nertz pile costing 5 each.
  • A match that did not end at the target: the round in progress always finishes before the match is decided.
