Use your four piles and flip your hand

How to stack your four work piles, move cards between them, and use the three card flip when you are stuck.

Your four piles

  1. 1You start with four piles of cards in front of you.
  2. 2Stack cards down one at a time, alternating colours: a red 8 goes on a black 9, a black 7 goes on a red 8.
  3. 3Move cards between your own piles at any time. This is how you uncover a card that was buried.
  4. 4When a pile is empty, it is a free space: any card can start it again.

Flipping your hand

  1. 1Tap your hand to flip three cards at a time onto the flipped pile, face up.
  2. 2Only the top card of the flipped pile can be played, onto a work pile, the middle, or your Nertz pile.
  3. 3Play the top card and the next flipped card becomes available.
  4. 4When your hand runs out, tap the flipped pile to turn it back over and go through it again.

A quick plan for a stuck moment

  1. 1Look at the bottoms and middles of your four piles. Which card is blocking the most cards behind it?
  2. 2Move cards between piles to bring that card to the top, then play it if you can.
  3. 3Flip your hand three at a time and keep the flipped pile moving.
  4. 4Turn hints on with the lightbulb if you want the table to glow on playable cards.

Good to know

Hints start switched on for Cozy and Easy, and the table softly points out a move anyway if you have been quiet for a few seconds.

Common problems

Common problems

The colours will not match.

Work piles alternate red and black, so two red cards cannot stack. Check the colour of the card underneath.

My pile is empty and I cannot put anything on it.

An empty pile accepts any card. If a card will not drop there, the pile may not actually be empty, or the drag ended outside the pile.

Can I play more than one card at a time?

No. Cards go down one at a time, which is why uncovering a run is worth the effort.
