What we collect, and why

Privacy & data 3 min readLast updated October 4, 2026

The list of data Nertz! stores, what each item is for, and what we deliberately never collect.

Account details

  • Your email address and name when you register, the basic profile (name, email, picture) when you sign in with Google, or your name and email address when you use Sign in with Apple.
  • With Sign in with Apple, that email address may be an Apple private relay address if you chose to hide your email. We never see your Google or Apple Account password, and we do not ask for access to Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google or Apple data.

Gameplay

  • The display name you type at the table.
  • Match and round results: points, rounds, Nertz calls, Kings captured, cards played, table size and game mode.
  • The room codes you create or join, and whether you were at the table when a round ended.
  • Support tickets you send us, including what you write, the page you were on, and any screenshot you attach.

Technical data

  • Our hosting platform keeps server side logs of requests to the app's backend, to run and secure it.
  • Basic technical data such as browser type and error reports.
  • If you use the help assistant or a Coach helper, the question you type is processed to write the answer. The conversation is stored with your account while it is active, so the helper can pick up where you left off, and it is only turned into a support ticket if you choose to send it to us as one.

Analytics

Nothing is counted until you click "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner. Once you do, two services count visits: Google Analytics 4, and Base44, the platform the game runs on. Both start from your next page load after you accept.

Google Analytics receives pages viewed, game events such as choosing a mode, starting a game or finishing a round, the referring site, approximate location, device and browser type, and session timing. Google Analytics never receives your name, email address, display name, room codes or account ID, and page addresses go without their query string.

Base44 analytics records when the visit started and the page you came from, the page path you are on, a "still here" signal once a minute, how long the visit lasts, and your account ID when you are signed in, with a random visit ID kept in your browser ("base44_analytics_session_id"). It is not anonymous: a signed-in visit is linked to your account. It never receives your name or email address.

Rejecting in "Cookie settings", or your browser sending Global Privacy Control, stops both services and deletes the stored visit ID. See "Cookies, analytics and your choices", and the Privacy Policy for the full list.

What we never do

  • We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
  • There are no ads in the game right now, and we do not collect advertising identifiers.
  • We do not read your support ticket in public, and other players cannot see it.
  • We do not use your conversations with the help assistant or the Coach helpers for advertising, profiling, or training AI models.

How long we keep it

  • Account and leaderboard data stays while your account is active, and goes when you ask us to delete it.
  • Live room data is temporary and cleared after a game ends.
  • Gameplay older than a month is rolled into your lifetime totals and the individual records are removed.
  • Conversations with the help assistant and the Coach helpers are kept while your account is active, and go when you ask us to delete them: delete the account, or open a ticket under "Privacy & data" and ask us to remove the conversations on their own.
  • Support tickets are kept while we need them to help you and to keep a record of requests, and are deleted with your account.
