I did not get my sign-up code
What to do when the sign-up verification code does not arrive, how to resend it, and why codes sometimes land in spam.
How the code works
When you create an account, we email a short one-time code to the address you typed. Type it on the verification screen and you are signed in. It is how we check the address is really yours, and it expires quickly, so use the newest one you received.
Try these in order
- 1Wait two minutes. Codes usually arrive in seconds, but busy mail servers can slow them down.
- 2Check the spam, junk and promotions folders, and search your mailbox for "Nertz".
- 3Tap "Resend code" on the verification screen and use the newest email. Older codes stop working once a new one is sent.
- 4Make sure the email address on the screen is spelled exactly as you typed it, with no spaces before or after.
- 5If you are in a school, work or shared mailbox, ask whether outside email is being held. A personal address is the fastest fix.
- 6Still nothing? Open a ticket from the help centre and tell us the email address you used. Do not include your password.
Other codes we send
- Password reset codes and links, when you use "Forgot password".
- Nothing else. Account emails are the only codes we ever send.
Staying safe
We only ever email you from an @nertz.app address, we never ask for your password, and we never ask for payment details by email or direct message. A code is only ever used inside the Nertz! app. If somebody contacts you asking for a code, it is not us. See "How to spot a fake Nertz message".
Common problems
Common problems
It says the code is wrong or expired.
Use the most recent code and type it in within a few minutes of receiving it. Requesting a new code cancels the previous one.
I mistyped my email when registering.
The account was created with the wrong address, so no code can reach you. Register again with the correct address, and open a ticket if the mistyped address is holding your scores.
