How to spot a fake Nertz message

Safety & reporting 2 min readLast updated October 3, 2026

Nertz! only ever emails from @nertz.app, never asks for passwords or payment, and never moves a conversation to another app.

The short version

We only ever contact you from an @nertz.app email address, and only about your account or your game. Anyone else claiming to be Nertz! is not us, however convincing the message looks.

We will never ask you for

  • Your password, or a sign-in code, or a password reset code over email or in a message.
  • Card details, a bank transfer, gift cards, cryptocurrency or any other payment. We never ask for payment by email, chat or message.
  • Remote access to your device, or a phone call to "verify" your account.
  • A move to another app, another website or a direct message to "continue the conversation".
  • A screenshot of your sign-in details, or your Google account password.

Good to know

We do send sign-up codes and password reset links. The difference is that we never ask you to send a code back to us, and a reset link only ever takes you to nertz.app.

Check a message before you trust it

  1. 1Look at the full sender address, not just the display name. It should end in @nertz.app.
  2. 2Hover over any link (or press and hold on a phone) and check the address really starts with https://nertz.app.
  3. 3Be suspicious of urgency, spelling mistakes, and anything asking for money or a code.
  4. 4If you are unsure, do not click. Open nertz.app yourself and check the notification bell or open a ticket with us.

If you already replied or clicked

  1. 1Reset your Nertz! password, and the password on your email account if you typed it anywhere.
  2. 2If you signed in with Google, review apps with access to your account and remove anything you do not recognise.
  3. 3Open a ticket under "Safety, abuse & cheating" and tell us what happened, so we can watch the account.
  4. 4If money was involved, contact your bank or card provider straight away. We will never be able to recover a payment made to somebody else.

Where our messages come from

  • Account emails: sign-up codes, password resets, and access notices. Always from @nertz.app.
  • Game emails: weekly winners and table invites, only to players with an account.
  • Support replies: when you open a ticket, from support@nertz.app, in the same thread you started.
