Turn hints and sound on or off

Where the lightbulb and speaker buttons are, what hints do, and how sound and animation settings behave across devices.

Hints

  1. 1Look for the lightbulb button in the top bar of the game table.
  2. 2Tap it to turn hints on or off. When hints are on, cards you can play glow so you can spot a move quickly.
  3. 3Hints start switched on for Cozy and Easy, and off for Classic, Hard and Card Shark.
  4. 4Even with hints off, the table softly highlights a move if you have not played anything for a few seconds, so you are never stuck without an idea.

Sound

Phones keep the sound setting per browser, and some browsers start muted until you first tap the screen. If you hear nothing on a phone, tap the table once, then check the speaker button.

  1. 1The speaker button sits next to the lightbulb in the top bar.
  2. 2Tap it to mute or unmute the table. When muted the button changes to a crossed out speaker.
  3. 3Your choice applies to this device and this browser.

Animations and motion

Cards animate as they move, and wins set off a short celebration. If you prefer less movement, your device's "reduce motion" setting is respected by the game. See "Accessibility features and settings" for the details.

Common problems

Common problems

My sound is on but I hear nothing.

Check the phone or computer volume, check that the browser tab is not muted (a small speaker icon on the tab), and tap the table once. Some browsers hold sound until the first tap.

Hints turned themselves off.

Hints follow the level you chose. Switching to Classic, Hard or Card Shark turns them off by default, and you can turn them back on with the lightbulb.
