Which emails we send and how to stop them
The two kinds of email from Nertz!, when they go out, and how to switch game emails on or off in Settings without touching your account or your scores.
The two kinds of email
We send nothing else. There is no marketing list, no newsletter, and no advertising email.
In the EU, the UK and Switzerland game emails are opt-in: they only go out after you switch them on in Settings. Everywhere else they arrive until you switch them off. Either way, one switch stops them.
- Account emails, which only go out because you asked for them: the sign-up code when you create an account, and the reset link when you use "Forgot password".
- Game emails, which are about playing: a weekly winners note after the leaderboard is recalculated, and a table invite when a signed-in player opens a table and you have not played in the last hour.
When the invite email goes out
- Only for tables with free seats that are still fresh, roughly the first couple of minutes after they open.
- Only to players who have an account and have played before, so brand new and long absent accounts are not flooded.
- Only to players who have not been at the table in the last hour.
- Only for tables opened by a signed-in host. A guest table does not send invites.
Turning game emails on or off
- 1Open Settings from the game menu and find the "Game emails" switch.
- 2Off means no weekly winners note and no table invites. On means you would like them.
- 3Tap it: it saves straight away on your account, so it applies on every device you sign in on.
- 4In the EU, the UK and Switzerland it starts switched off, because those emails are opt-in there. Switch it on if you want them, and off again whenever you like.
- 5You can also use the "Unsubscribe from game emails" link at the foot of any game email. It works without signing in, and switches exactly the same thing off.
Good to know
You never need to delete your account to change this, and it never affects your scores. Account emails such as a sign-up code or a password reset are ones you ask for, so they always arrive. A player under 16 in the EU, the UK or Switzerland needs a parent or guardian to ask us before game emails can be switched on.
If an email did not arrive
- 1Check spam, junk and promotions, and search your mailbox for "Nertz".
- 2Invites only go to accounts, so a guest never receives one.
- 3Weekly winners goes out once a week, and only for players with saved games. Nothing to report means nothing is sent.
- 4If you have not played in weeks, invites only reach you again after you have played once more.
Staying safe
We only ever email you from an @nertz.app address. We never ask for your password, a sign-up code, or payment details by email, and we never ask you to move the conversation to another app. Anything else claiming to be us is not. See "How to spot a fake Nertz message".
Common problems
Common problems
I keep getting invites I do not want.
Switch game emails off in Settings, as above. If you still want the weekly note but not the invites, tell us in a ticket and we will adjust it for your account.
A password reset email never arrived.
Reset emails are account emails and always go out when requested. Check spam, then request a fresh one, and see "Reset a forgotten password" if it still does not arrive.
